wandering through Calgary's past

The Douglas Fir Tour is a 2.5-3 hour interpretive hike along wild stands of towering Douglas Firs, gurgling natural springs and epic views.  This tour will give the visitor a true appreciation of ancient and modern history and its influence on the picturesque setting of Calgary.    Not far from civilization but truly a world apart,  you will get a taste of Canada’s natural beauty.

The hike completes a ~3km loop with a total elevation gain and loss of 50m along dirt trails, boardwalks and a viewpoint hidden among the trees. The uneven and slippery terrain requires a good level of walking ability. It is important that everyone has sturdy footwear for the hike and appropriate clothing for the weather.

The pace and length of the tour is dependent on the abilities and interests of the group.  Small children unable to walk the whole distance must be carried in an approved backpack.
