The Grotto Canyon Hiking Tour is a 3-4 hour interpretive hike along imposing vertical rocks of a stunning canyon.  Guests are introduced to the incredible geology and ecology of this rocky landscape while revisiting the history of ancient peoples who sought the solitude of this canyon and recorded their visits in pictographs.

The hike crosses a dry creek then continues west until reaching Grotto Canyon, hopscotching back and forth along a creek for a total elevation gain of 100m before reaching a picturesque waterfall 2 km from the trailhead.   The uneven and slippery terrain along the creek requires a good level of walking ability. It is important that everyone has sturdy, waterproof footwear for the hike and appropriate clothing for the weather.

The pace and length of the tour is dependent on the abilities and interests of the group.  Small children unable to walk the whole distance must be carried in an approved backpack.

Ticket prices include a free pass to the Canmore Museum and Geoscience Centre to help you further dive into the local history.
